Hey there! I’m Allison Nimlos and I work as a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, a diabetes health coach, and a type 1 diabetic for 25 years. I received my Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota.
I became a therapist because I wanted to help people navigate the unknown. Like many of you, I have had a series of stumbling blocks (including my own break-ups, job loss, and the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes as a child) and that I have had to work my way over, around and through them, often times with the help of a therapist.
Prior to opening my own private practice, I worked at a group private practice, and my internship was at a private practice and doing school-based mental health in a high school. As an associate, I’m currently under supervision of Amy Madson, LMFT, as I pursue full licensure.
When I’m not working, I spend time with my husband and toddler son, reading for my book club, watching Netflix documentaries and comedy specials, and exploring my new home state of Minnesota (I grew up in Oregon, and lived on the East Coast for almost 10 years).
